Colombian rockstar Juanes has put out a new hit.
New hit from Juanes
The famed paisa rocker has launched his latest single which evokes the sounds of the early stages of his career which propelled him to fame, with songs such as ‘La camisa negra’. However, Juanes has added a touch of cumbia to ‘Fuego’, which was released in early October. In the video, the singer-songwriter is accompanied by Victoria’s Secret model Joan Smalls.
BIFF take two
This second edition of the Bogotá International Film Festival (BIFF), which ends on October 14, includes 56 films sorted into a number of sections. One of these is Masters, and includes movies from renowned directors such as Woody Allen, André Techiné, Ulrich Seidl and Kelly Reichardt. Over nine days, film lovers immersed themselves in a varied programme of movies from across the world, with something for every taste. It also features an academic offering, bringing together some of the biggest names from both the national and international cinema sectors to rethink and discuss the best and the worst of filmmaking in Colombia.
60 years of Germany in Bogotá
The German government’s official cultural institute, the Goethe Institut, celebrates six decades in the country with a two-month programme of artistic offerings. Bogotá’s public will have the chance to enjoy a varied calendar of shows ranging from opera, dance, music, theatre and more. There will also be a number of conferences with national and international guests, offering a panorama of 21st century Germany – covering themes from music, philosophy, the environment and cinema to architecture, memory and peace.
Cultural plebitusa
With many left disappointed by the result of the plebiscite, some decided to exorcise their pain with marches, while others, like Colombian musician Victoria Sur, turned to art. The winner of the Mono Núñez prize in 1994 wrote ‘El país de los imposibles’, in which she talks about her hopes for peace. The Quindío artist, who has made a name for herself with her strong social conscience and Latin American spirit, is one of the many famous voices that has come out in support of the peace process.
Starr of peace
Colombian singer-songwriter Fonseca has recorded a Spanish verse to be included in Ringo Starr’s peace anthem ‘Now The Time Has Come’, which was originally written for the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. The ex-Beatle contacted the Latin Grammy nominee to write a verse specifically for Colombia’s peace process, with Fonseca claiming that it was a “surprise” to receive the call from Ringo Starr, while also speaking of his excitement that the superstar has shown an interest in the country’s search for peace.
