American Women’s Club of BogotaOn October 17, the American Women’s Club of Bogota (AWC) will host the 15th version of the Havana Nights Gala, which aims to raise funds for 15 local foundations, at Club Los Lagartos.

The charity event, which last year raised COP$60 million for a number of foundations, aims to raise funds to allow the AWC to continue providing healthcare, food and educational grants.

Tiffany Kohl, the Havana Nights president, explains: “This year… we hope to raise COP$70 million in donations in order to continue contributing to the quality of life of Bogotanos with limited resources.”

As well as dinner, the night will include music from Salsa N Groove, a new band including members of the famed salsa group La 33, who mix salsa with elements of reggae, dancehall, dub and hip hop. There will also be a silent auction, featuring artwork from renowned urban artists, including Pez, Toxicomano, DJ Lu and Crisp, as well as jewellery, dinners and an international roundtrip flight.

The AWC, which was founded in 1947, is a non-profit organisation. It currently supports 15 foundations, including Proyecto de Vida, Paraplejicos no Pensionados, Fundacion Fe, Hogar San Miguel and Casa de la Esperanza.
