After three years of repairs and restoration, Our Lady of Lourdes church has opened its doors to the public once again.
Works involved repairing the roof, general structural reinforcement of the whole building, restoration of windows, the rebuilding of electric grids, removal of the enclosure wall on Calle 63 and the relocation of the Virgin’s grotto.
The church is a valuable architectural artefact and its design makes it the first of its kind in Colombia.
The neo-Gothic style of the church is a symbol of the Chapinero neighbourhood. Its impressive architecture, works of art and stained glass windows have made it one of the most important reference points in the capital for locals and tourists alike.
