Multi Grammy Award-winning US pop-rock band Maroon 5 will be coming to Colombia for the second time next year as part of their upcoming Latin American tour.
Since their first tour in November 2008, Maroon 5 have garnered much more attention, with hit singles such as ‘Misery’ and ‘Moves Like Jagger’, one of 2011’s best-selling singles, taking them to the top of the international pop scene. With 8.5 million copies sold worldwide, ‘Moves Like Jagger’ has become one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Here to promote their new album V, which contains hits such as ‘Sugar’, ‘Animals’ and ‘Maps’, the visit is a part of a larger world tour, which has been going on since February this year.
Maroon 5 announced on their official website that they will be playing at the Parque Salitre Magico in Bogota, which holds around 16,000 people. Hours after the announcement, social media went into overdrive, prompting speculation that the venue may not be big enough to accommodate the fans.
While Maroon 5’s show in Colombia is set for March 3, 2016, the band will also be playing three shows in Mexico in February.
After Colombia, the band has confirmed that they will visit Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Brazil.
The organisers of the event, Ocesa, have already released tickets with general admission priced at COP $160,000, and VIP tickets costing COP $360,000.
Maroon 5 are one of many major mainstream acts set to tour Latin America in the next 12 months. Muse, Katy Perry, and Pearl Jam are expected to make appearances in Colombia, while Lollapalooza has confirmed festivals in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.
