Bogota’s film festival, entirely dedicated to documentary films about music. This is the third edition of the event, which will include more than 60 films, covering a wide variety of genres, artists and musical tendencies. It will also include a number of talks, discussions, premieres and concerts. Films will be shown at Cinemateca Distrital, Cine Tonala, Universidad Central and A Seis Manos.
Expovino, July 29 – August 1, Corferias
The tenth edition of Bogota’s wine expo, with food, wine and 40 conferences from some of the world’s wine connoisseurs. This year’s invited country is Argentina, which boasts a number of renowned wine-producing regions, including Mendoza, Cafayate, San Juan and Patagonia.
Asi suena Colombia en el siglo XXI, August 10-14, Teatro Colon
A 30-hour seminar, with a number of composers and musicians from the country’s independent music scene discussing their visions for the future of new Colombian music. Includes a series of workshops and conferences.
Festival Dame tu Lengua, August 13-15, A Seis Manos
A Seis Manos’ regular language and cultural exchange expands to a festival with a diverse range of activities. Check out study exchanges between Colombia and Europe, poetry slams, gastronomic delights, karaoke, a children’s circus and language tasters. The festival also includes a design fair, book exchanges, exhibitions and of course plenty of parties.
Encuentro Nacional de Astronomia, August 14-17, El Planetario
Conferences, talks, exhibitions, shows in the dome and cultural events, with the presence of astrophysicist Valerio Ribeiro from Radboud University in Nijmegen, Holland. The event brings together observatories, planetariums, universities, science centres and astronomy groups.
